What to expect
A lot of the time people are unsure what to expect when it comes to therapy. Often we think that we will lie on a couch and the therapist will be sitting with his or hers clipboard analysing everything we are saying, in real life therapy is very different.
There are very few eureka moments, as portrayed in the film good will hunting, but more a series of mini breakthroughs that you discover along the way with your therapist.
Almost all of the changes you will experience from being in therapy will happen outside the session as you have to work at putting in place the actions and changes that have been identified in session.
